Within 2 years of joining the Trust you will be offered the following courses: PILS (Paediatric immediate life support) TILS  (Trauma immediate life support) Paediatric HDU / Children’s Emergency nursing Qualification in Specialism for Paediatric Emergency Nursing, which is accredited by the RCN. To develop an area of clinical interest to improve the care & services offered to children and their families. Maintain effective communication with colleagues and patients and their families, assessing and supporting children and their families with understanding of their illness, health promotion and prevention of future illness. To ensure the safe administration of medicines in accordance with local policy and NMC guidelines, including Patient Group Directions. Provide support for children/young people and their families. Direct them to relevant services if appropriate. To ensure high standards of patient care at all times. Ensure an appropriate, welcoming and safe environment is provided for children and their families. As much as possible, this should be audio-visually separate from adults and in line with National Service Framework recommendations. To develop and keep clinical knowledge and skills updated, including developing and maintaining extended clinical role skills, following appropriate training.
