### Job overview

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Paediatric Diabetes Clinical Educator (Band 4) to join our dynamic Paediatric Diabetes Service at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. Working under the supervision of the Site Lead Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people with diabetes and their families by delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based education and care. The role involves working across multiple Trust sites, community locations, schools and, where appropriate, from home to support service responsiveness and effective caseload management.

You will provide structured diabetes education, contribute to care planning, support the use of diabetes technologies, and act as an advocate for children and young people. This includes teaching, coaching and guiding families to develop confidence and skills in managing diabetes, as well as helping to re‑engage those who may be struggling to attend appointments. You will also work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, community partners, and educational establishments to ensure coordinated, holistic care.

This post is ideal for someone with recent paediatric experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with long‑term conditions. You will be supported to develop within the role and contribute to service development, safeguarding practice, and the wider educational responsibilities of the team.

### Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Diabetes Educator will work as part of the Paediatric Diabetes Multidisciplinary Team to deliver high‑quality care to children and young people with diabetes and their families. This includes assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating holistic diabetes care in clinic, on the ward and in the community setting.

You will provide tailored education, and support to help families understand and manage diabetes, reinforce advice from the specialist nursing team, and deliver structured education programmes. The role also includes organising and delivering technology assessments, supporting the use of diabetes technologies, arranging technology‐focused sessions and roadshows, maintaining the technology database, and staying up to date with emerging devices and innovations.

A key duty is monitoring WNB/DNA activity and undertaking follow‑up, home or school visits to re‑engage families and ensure continuity of care. You will also organise and support peer‑support opportunities, contribute to transition to adult services, and act as an advocate for young people with diabetes.

The role involves providing education across all sectors, including training educational staff in insulin administration and blood glucose testing, and supporting the MDT with service development, audit & research.
