The post holder will demonstrate competence in generic and specialist skills as required within a time frame agreed with their manager following the completion of appropriate training and education. The Band 2 Health Care Assistant will function at a competency level in line with the requirements of the post and achieve and maintain both mandatory and statutory training requirements associated with the role. Successful applicants will start as Clinical Support Workers (CSWs) and complete the Care Certificate and Healthcare Support Worker competencies. On successful completion, you will progress to the role of Healthcare Assistant (HCA). ### Main duties of the job *Work cooperatively as part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting colleagues in work associated with patient care. *Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family, visitors and carers *Following appropriate training and supervised practice, undertake identified competency-based practices which are required for the ward / unit, after such tasks have been delegated to them by a registered nurse. *Chaperone and act as an advocate for patients during examination by clinical staff. *Ensure privacy and dignity for all patients is maintained *Act in a non-discriminatory manner at all times being mindful of the requirements of each individual patient. *Escalate concerns regarding discriminatory practises. *Respond swiftly to individuals, who require assistance, are in pain or distressed or using their call bell, where required report this to a registered nurse. *Obtain specimens ensuring accurate documentation and transportation to appropriate department.
