We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Audiologist to join the Paediatric Audiology team based at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

You will be  working closely with the Paediatric Audiology Team to deliver diagnostic and habilitative provision across the Hull & East Yorkshire area for babies, infants and children, that fulfils the requirements and quality standards outlined by the British Academy of Audiology (BAA), British Society of Audiology (BSA), Modernising Children’s Hearing Aid Services (MCHAS) and the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS).

### Main duties of the job

This full time post is permanently established at 37.5 hours per week.

The successful applicant will have a key role in a developing service that aims to attain IQIPs accreditation in line with the adult service, whilst working within a busy, friendly department responsible for providing paediatric services at modern community based Audiology clinics (East Riding Community Hospital in the historic town of Beverley & Bransholme Health Centre in Hull) and on occasion the acute Trust.

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and, on occasion, to attend training courses outside Hull
- Ability to travel across multiple community sites, occasionally during the same day to ensure needs of the service are met.

**Desirable**

- Willingness to undertake private study outside normal working hours
- Evidence of an interest in audiological science and practice beyond the minimum requirements of the post.

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc/ MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications.

**Desirable**

- BAA HTS Modules in Paediatric Audiology

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- At least 5 years’ previous experience working as an audiologist
- Paediatric experience (behavioural audiometry /OAEs / habilitation)

**Desirable**

- Paediatric audiology experience in an NHS clinic

### Communication and Interpersonal Skills

**Essential**

- Good written and verbal communication.
- Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
- Familiarity with basic computer navigation and operation; ability to use audiology databases (Audit Base, s4h), and hearing aid manufacturers’ software.
- Ability to write technical reports, logically and in good English.
- Possess advanced clinical reasoning skills.
- The ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with patients and their carers.
- The ability to work independently under own guidance.
- Understands the reason for and maintains patient confidentiality.

**Desirable**

- Ability to use word processors and spreadsheets
- British Sign Language (BSL)
