- Hampshire Hospitals are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Overseas Visitor Officer to support the implementation of Department of Health and Trust policies relating to overseas patient visitors. The successful candidate will assess patient eligibility for NHS treatment, manage overseas visitor billing and debt recovery processes, and provide expert guidance on charging regulations across the Trust. The role involves interviewing patients and liaising with families and stakeholders where necessary, maintaining accurate patient records, submitting statutory returns, and ensuring compliance with national guidance, confidentiality standards, and Trust policies. You will work closely with finance, contracting, business intelligence, and clinical teams to ensure efficient administration and effective communication across all areas of the service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills who can work independently, manage sensitive information professionally, and deliver a high standard of customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Register all potential overseas visitors to the Trust following Trust policies and procedures, identify, assess and categorise any overseas visitors into chargeable, non-chargeable or reciprocal agreement patients against Department of Health guidance

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Interview potential overseas visitors and where required due to communication barriers such as language/medical status liaise with their family/associates Monitor and bill reciprocal, non-reciprocal and any other type of overseas visitors Provide advice on the guidance for chargeable/non chargeable healthcare related to overseas patient visitors and the process required to identify a patient’s eligibility for free healthcare within the Trust Complete and submit the debtor returns to the Home Office to identify any outstanding debt on a patient-by-patient basis Compile and submit monthly overseas patient visitors to the European Manage the collating of current/historical data for any overseas related Freedom of information (FOI) requests and submit returns to the FOI team ensuring this is carried out in line with Trust policy and associated timeframes Investigate and amend any patient records on Patient Centre  Review any outstanding debt together with financial accounts team and the Trust debt recovery service Review working procedures relating to overseas patient visitors, updating processes, documents, data systems to ensure maximum proficiency.

### Communication

**Essential**

- Strong communication skills to liaise with clinical and non–clinical staff across the Trust and any other external stakeholders as required

**Desirable**

- Adaptability in order to review and update current processes, documents and data systems to ensure maximum proficiency
- Ability to independently prioritise workload as well as being a key player in the wider team

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience of working in a pathway coordination/navigation role or similar
- Experience of working in a patient or customer facing role with ability to establish rapport

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of the Overseas visitors charging regulations
- Experience of data entry into Microsoft office, particularly Excel

### Training and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Good knowledge across a range of administrative work procedures including non-routine elements
- Training and experience in administrative roles to vocational level 3 or equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- Service improvement training
