The post is suitable for doctors who have completed their SpR or equivalent training and are seeking to extend their experience prior to applying for a Consultant post with a subspecialist interest in Otology. The post will provide a great opportunity to receive further specialist training. ### Main duties of the job The post holder will work with a team of five Consultant Otologists and will be primarily based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The Otology group provide secondary care to South Birmingham and tertiary services to the population of the West Midlands. The Otology unit comprises general otology and specialist ear services. It is preferred, but not essential, that applicants hold a Certificate of Completion of Training. Whilst the post does not carry a National Training Number, the post holder will have a formal monthly meeting with Mr R Irving to monitor progress and to ensure appropriate support and opportunities are being given. At the commencement of the post an Educational Contact will be agreed between Mr Irving and the Fellow and Mr Irving will provide educational support taking the role of educational supervisor to the fellow.
