### Job overview

This post is an integral part of our multi disciplinary team working to deliver a range of orthodontic therapy services for orthodontic patients in an outpatient setting cross site within the Trust.

The post holder will provide orthodontic treatment under the direction / prescription of an Orthodontic Consultant / Specialist and contribute to the clinical management of patients requiring complex or multidisciplinary orthodontic treatment, working in collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals in order to improve patient care. They will also be expected to facilitate and participate in audit and quality assurance procedures and promote evidence based practice

### Main duties of the job

- Work under direct/ indirect supervision of a Consultant Orthodontist or by written prescription left by them to deliver patient care
- Work within the scope of practice of an Orthodontic Therapist as set out by the General Dental Council including repair of broken appliances without direct supervision.
- Refer to the appropriate health professional when required.
- Work within Trust and departmental policy and guidelines
- Complete performance review and appraisal with the Lead Dental Nurse including clinical review with a Consultant Orthodontist.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy.
- Current GDC registration as an Orthodontic Therapist.

**Desirable**

- NEBDN certificate in Oral Health.
- NEBDN certificate in Orthodontic Nursing.
- NEBDN certificate in Dental Radiography.
- Other relevant post - registration qualification.

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Flexibility and ability to travel independently across Cumbria.
- Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements.
