This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician working at ST3+ level to join the team and develop their clinical and surgical experience within a supportive environment. The post offers opportunities for further exposure to theatre lists and surgical training, tailored to the successful candidate’s experience, aptitude and development needs.

The post holder will be expected to contribute actively to postgraduate teaching and education, with opportunities to support the development of medical, nursing and orthoptic colleagues. There may also be opportunities to participate in clinical research alongside supervising consultant colleagues.

A strong commitment to clinical governance, audit and continuous improvement is essential. The post holder will participate in the established clinical audit programme, outcome review and service improvement activities, as well as supporting incident reporting, risk management and the achievement of national and local performance targets.

### Main duties of the job

Main Duties

Provide clinical duties at ST3+ level, with opportunities for further surgical theatre training depending on experience and aptitude. Participate in postgraduate teaching and contribute to the education of medical, nursing and orthoptic colleagues as appropriate. Support and, where appropriate, participate in clinical research under the supervision of consultant colleagues. Participate actively in the Trust’s clinical audit programme, including outcome review and service improvement. Contribute to clinical governance, including incident reporting, risk management, performance targets and compliance with Trust policies. Participate in appraisal and professional development activities. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of patient safety and quality of care.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Experience

- A minimum of 36 months experience at SHO level and/or ST3+ or equivalent with broad experience in general ophthalmology
- Can undertake routine phacoemulsification unsupervised (audit of last 100 cataract cases to be submitted)

**Desirable**

- Experience in Corneal Surgery
- Training and education of junior resident doctors and undergraduate/postgraduate students

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GMC Regitration
- MRCOphth or Equivalent
- FRCOphth or equivalent
