The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting service development, workforce leadership, and the implementation of innovative clinical and operational improvements. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, they will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of radiotherapy services across multiple sites, while contributing to the strategic direction and continued evolution of the service. Internal only Face to face interviews only This post is a fixed term/secondment for 6 months until 31st March 2027 to meet the needs of the service.  If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post. ### Main duties of the job We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic radiotherapy professional to join our leadership team on a temporary basis until 31 March 2027 as an Operational Superintendent Radiographer. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop key operational areas within the Radiotherapy Service, including QA and the Radiotherapy Booking process , whilst ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, quality, and service delivery. Key Responsibilities - Provide operational and professional leadership for the radiotherapy pre-treatment pathway which includes capacity planning, QA and pathway optimisation . - Lead, motivate, and develop staff and students through recruitment, induction, supervision, objective setting, appraisal, and performance management processes. - Ensure the safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiotherapy services in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, professional standards, and national guidance. - Oversee patient booking and scheduling pathways, supporting timely access to treatment and effective coordination of patient care. - Work flexibly across more than one site to meet service demands and maintain operational resilience. - Contribute to service planning, governance, workforce development, and the achievement of departmental and organisational objectives. - Take part in oncall. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities You will be able to find a full Job Description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents or please click Apply now to view in Trac. ## Person Specification ### Aptitude **Essential** - Excellent communication skills - Organisational skills including ability to delegate and prioritise under pressure and to work to deadlines - IT skills - Adaptable to change - Shows initiative/ drive - Self-motivated - Team worker - Reliable and punctual - Flexible approach to work and needs of the service - Caring and empathetic - Interpersonal skills including change management - Leadership skills including motivation - Able to critically analyse and develop new techniques - Technically sound - Management skills **Desirable** - Supervisory skills – radiographers and students - Mentoring skills - Ability to speak Welsh to Level 1 ### Experience **Essential** - Sound practical and technical ability - Significant experience of supervision and management of staff including managing recruitment, performance, attendance and disciplinary issues - Extensive experience at senior level with wide range of radiotherapy equipment and techniques **Desirable** - Experience of working with Varian and/or Elekta equipment - Quality Assurance - Student assessment - Experience of implementing new techniques/ technologies - Audit ### Qualifications and Knowledge **Essential** - B.Sc.
