12 Month Medicine OSM.

The post holder will report to the Divisional Director of Operations and will be responsible for the delivery of all operational functions across these services.

The Operational Services Manager will ensure that services are delivered to the highest standards, overseeing all key departmental metrics including performance, quality and finance. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, effective leadership, and a commitment to supporting teams to deliver high‑quality care to our community.

The post holder will provide a focused approach to delivering streamlined and efficient services, ensuring that operational processes are well managed, compliant, and aligned with national and international benchmarks.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the leadership experience to engage, encourage and support the existing teams within General Medicine and Admin Services, driving pathway improvements, productivity and high‑quality patient care.

The post holder:

- Will lead and develop the services with responsibility for business planning, budget management and staff management, ensuring delivery of access, activity, finance, staff performance, staff development and quality targets.
- Has joint responsibility with other managers and clinical leads to provide overall leadership across General Medicine and Admin Services. They will be required to establish, improve and maintain effective operational links with all relevant services across the Trust.
- Will provide direct operational leadership to the General Medicine and Admin Services, supporting the Divisional Management Team in achieving operational and clinical governance objectives.
- Will ensure that the highest standards of clinical care and service delivery are continuously maintained while supporting cost improvement and productivity schemes aligned to the wider Trust agenda.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven track record of minimum 3 years operational management experience preferably in the NHS
- Evidence of effective management of budgets, waiting list information analysis & delivering key operational targets
- Effective leading, management and implementation of change through people

**Desirable**

- Experience of managing or working within General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Admin Services,

### Qualification

**Essential**

- Masters degree in a health/business related subject (e.g. MTS/MBA) or working to attain one, or equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- Clinical or Business qualification or evidence of continued postgraduate management

### Skills & Ability

**Essential**

- Ability to prioritise large and conflicting workload, use own initiative and work autonomously
- Advanced communication skills including ability to negotiate & influence at all levels
- Excellent understanding of the national change & development agenda

**Desirable**

- Experience of managing/working within General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Admin services,
