### Job overview

This role is to support the oversight and development of our operational managers across Ambulance Operations and Incident Management and Service Delivery (IM&SD). This role will oversee and support the selection, training and ongoing practice development of operational managers, including the design, development and delivery of education and training programmes, with support from Clinical Directorate and EPRR colleagues. They will be responsible for developing new and updated training where needed and overseeing the ongoing quality and compliance of training delivery.

### Main duties of the job

- Lead in the design, development, implementation and delivery of new operational management development packages for Operational Managers, primarily in Ambulance Operations and Incident Management and Service Delivery but also other Directorates as required.
- Look after the training and development of newly appointed and in-post managers such as Clinical Team Managers, Team Managers and Incident Response Officers, and input on management development for other managers in Ambulance Operations such as Group Managers.
- Take a key role in continuous improvement and development activity for Operational Managers, contributing to developing new practices that will lead learning and personal/career development, to both improved operational and incident management, patient care and staff job satisfaction and welfare.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- The post holder will coordinate the development and review of all course structures for the operational management programmes, to ensure consistency across programmes and that materials are accurate and up to date.
- Develop, design and deliver elements of the training curricula within the full range of courses to be delivered.
- The post holder will develop and lead on Quality Assurance and Assessment programmes for Operational Managers.
- Ensure the continued improvement of course content and delivery methods to promote a modern approach to the curriculum.
- The post holder will have responsibility for developing and supporting the governance and standards activity and services for these roles.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Working in Educational / Training Services
- Experience of delivering education and training to learners with differing roles, levels of experience and learning needs
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff in a team context
- Experience of influencing at a senior managerial level
- Experience of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Expertise in developing policies and procedures to influence both inter and intra-departmental working practices
- Evidence of understanding of training methods and curricula organisation
- Experience of working in teams to deliver programmes and projects of work which involve change
- Experience of working within a complex, multi-site learning environment

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to speak / present in public
- Ability to work effectively across departmental and professional boundaries
- Ability to employ the full range of leadership / managerial skills in providing empowerment and support to individuals and teams
- Formulate short, medium & long term strategic training plans across the Trust and create a well understood vision for the future of the roles and communicate this throughout the organisation
- Demonstrable networking skills and the ability to identify and engage key stakeholders
- Highly skilled in presenting to small and large groups, ensuring the information is understood
- Develop policies and procedures for necessary service development

### Qualifications, Accreditations, Education

**Essential**

- Masters degree or equivalent experience relevant to Paramedic practice
- Be a registered Paramedic with a range of experience
- Knowledge of Operational Management including Nationally recognised Command Training
- Have a theoretical and practical knowledge of process improvement methodologies, Project Management and a broad understanding of internal organisational policies and procedures
