This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest acute teaching hospitals in the region and develop your skills within a major trauma centre, working as an Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration or are awaiting registration. We aim to ensure no harm comes to our patients; we continually strive to improve patient experience and make our areas a great place to work and learn.

We have full time clinical educators in post to provide educational support to new employees who will undergo a comprehensive training programme.

### Main duties of the job

- To provide the highest standards of patient care and ensure that these standards of care are delivered.
- To perform all general duties of trained theatre personnel and in addition any duty requiring special skill and ability within the surgical/anaesthetic speciality.
- Assess and plan care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programme of care.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of inter- professional working

**Desirable**

- Completed core/area specific competencies in anaesthetics, surgery +/or PACU (if worked at different Trust)
- Experience working within an operating department environment

### Other Factors

**Essential**

- Able to work cross-site if required

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RGN Diploma/ADNS/Nursing Degree
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- HE Diploma/BSc in Operating Department Practice/NVQ Level 3 ODP/C & G 752
- Registered Operating Department Practitioner with valid HCPC registration

**Desirable**

- Mentorship Qualification

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to work autonomously
- Effective communicator to all levels of staff
- Understanding the role of the theatre practitioner
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Understanding of the requirements of confidentiality in a health care setting

**Desirable**

- Have Knowledge of the care of the peri-operative patient
- Effective handling of critical incidents.
