### Job summary

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse, Midwife or Operating Department Practitioner who is passionate about providing high quality reproductive healthcare?

BPAS are looking for an Operating Department Manager to join our clinical team in Doncaster. You'll lead and manage the Operating Department, including Deputy ODM's and ODP's, ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality patient care.

This role is for 23.5 hours per week, to be worked flexibly over Monday to Thursday. More details can be found in the further information section below.

About the role

As an Operating Department Manager you will lead & manage the Operating Department, ensuring high standards of Patient care, safety & efficiency. You'll work closely with the Treatment Unit Manager, Surgeons, Anaesthetists & wider clinical team to ensure the smooth running of the department.

You'll be responsible for supporting & developing the Operating Department team, maintaining appropriate staffing & skill mix and ensuring compliance with CQC standards and BPAS policies and procedures.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse, practising Midwife or Registered ODP with active professional registration and a theatre qualification in operating department practice. You'll have significant experience working within an operating department and experience of managing or supervising staff.

You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, be able to work under pressure and have a positive approach to change.

### Main duties of the job

- Lead and coordinate the Operating Department Team, including Deputy ODM's and ODP's, ensuring appropriate delegation and skill mix.
- Ensure high standards of safe, professional and compassionate patient care are maintained throughout the Operating Department.
- Manage staffing levels, rotas and on-call arrangements to ensure appropriate clinical cover is maintained.
- Support the recruitment, induction, performance management and ongoing professional development of Operating Department staff.
- Ensure the team are trained and able to respond effectively to emergency situations and that emergency equipment and supplies are maintained and regularly checked.
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, BPAS policies and procedures and relevant professional standards.
- Oversee the safe ordering, storage, checking and administration of drugs, including controlled drugs.
- Participate in clinical governance and audit, including the reporting and investigation of incidents, complaints and accidents.
- Ensure Health and Safety and Infection Control policies and procedures are implemented effectively within the Operating Department.

- Experience working across anaesthetics, theatre and recovery
- Experience of gynaecology / TOP surgery
- Leadership and motivational skills
