The Oliver McGowan Facilitating Trainer is responsible for delivering learning disability and autism training (Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training) to employees of Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust across Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Shropshire and the wider geographical footprint.  They may also be required to deliver this training to other organisations outside of the Trust.

The training materials have been developed by the central team, there is no requirement to develop the training package, however there may be a requirement to flex these sessions to meet audience need; a significant level of knowledge about Learning Disability and Autism is required to be able to respond to audience questions and demonstrate credibility.

The Facilitating Trainer must have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Learning Disability and Autism in order to deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training programme and have the requisite teaching skills to deliver both Tier 1 and Tier 2 training packages.  The post holder will work with experts with lived experience and co-trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability.  The trainer must have significant experience with working with people with Learning Disability and Autistic people and be able to offer pastoral and direct support during the training programme, particularly at times of stress, anxiety, meltdown or shutdown.

Become an accredited Oliver McGowan Mandatory trainer by successfully attending the “Train the Trainer” training, keeping up to date with current and emerging thinking in health and social care practice, learning disability and autism, laws of consent (UK),

Plan the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training schedule for the organisation to ensure compliance with national targets, with support from the Workforce and Learning Team.  This will include co-ordinating training venues (across various Trust sites), procuring experts with lived experience/co-trainers, and managing planned absences such as annual leave.

Recognises and addresses the needs of individuals and the group prior to, during and after the session, ensuring reasonable adjustments are adopted.

- - Has up to date expert working knowledge of the fields of autism and learning disability and is familiar with current issues.

### QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
