### Job overview

The role plays a key part in delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism to people who work in health and social care services within the Croydon Health Services NHS.

The successful Co-Facilitator will be supported to deliver training to include:

- Learning disability awareness and/or understanding autism.
- Reasonable adjustments.
- Supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people.
- Communication.

The Learning Disability Co-Facilitator will be co-delivering with a facilitating trainer.

The post holder will be part of an Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Team, alongside other Experts with Lived Experience Co- Facilitator, Facilitating Trainers, Lead Trainer and support staff.

As a Co-Facilitator you be an expert with lived experience and have a diagnosis of a learning disability or learning disability with Autism. You will be encouraged to share your experiences of having a learning disability and using health services during the training.

### Main duties of the job

The training will be co-delivered to help NHS and social care staff understand their role in supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people..

The training is split into two types:

- The first type of training is an online one-hour interaction session co-delivered to 30 members of staff called a Tier 1 Webinar.
- The second type of training is a one day in-person training session that is taught at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and co-delivered to 30 members of staff. This is called a Tier 2 in-person training session. The morning session is co-delivered by the Co-Facilitator with a Learning Disability and Facilitating Trainer, and the afternoon session is co-delivered by the Autistic Co-Facilitator and Facilitating Trainer.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided to successful candidates to enable them to carry out this role and become an NHS England-accredited Oliver McGowan Mandatory Co- trainer by successfully attending the ‘Train the Trainer’ training.

As a Co- Facilitator you be an expert with lived experience and have a learning disability. You will be encouraged to share your experiences of having a learning disability and using health services during the training.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Diagnosis of Learning Disability or Learning Disability with Autism
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Work well with others as part of the Oliver McGowan training team
- Be reliable, including excellent timekeeping
- Professionally answer questions from delegates with your Co-Facilitators/Trainers
- Describe lived experience to other Co-Facilitators/Trainers and delegates
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with delegates during the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training (this can be through different communication modes)

**Desirable**

- Registration as an approved Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training co-trainer
- An ability to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the role, this may include covering training sessions at short notice
