Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in the department of Ophthalmology, based at University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff) and Princess of Wales Hospital (Bridgend) to commence on the below date:

Start date: 1st September 2027  Fixed Term for 12 months).

The post holder will undertake Oculoplastic outpatients clinics, Theatre lists and research. The appointee will join an established team of 16 Consultant Surgeons providing a comprehensive and high quality patient care service across all ophthalmology practice.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services. Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should preferably either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within three months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Completion / near completion og Higher Surgical Training or equivalent
- Competence in oculoplastic surgery at UK registrar level

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GMC Registration / License to Practise
- FRCOphth or equivalent
- Radiation Protection training / willing to attend next available course

**Desirable**

- Intercalated Degree
- MSc or PHD

### Skills / Knowledge

**Essential**

- Researching / Teaching / Audit experience

### Additional Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Experienced independent cataract surgery

**Desirable**

- TSC in oculoplastic surgery
