This role is to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals undergoing investigation and treatment for ocular malignancies. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and existing Clinical Nurse Specialists to develop the knowledge and skills required. You will act as a key point of contact for patients, supporting them across the cancer pathway, while developing advanced clinical assessment, care coordination and communication skills within a specialist service. ### Main duties of the job - Support the delivery of specialist nursing care to patients with suspected or confirmed ocular cancers - Act as a key contact for patients, providing information, support and signposting - Undertake holistic needs assessments, identifying physical, psychological and social needs - Assist in coordinating patient pathways across ophthalmology, oncology and related services - Support preparation for and participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings - Develop skills in clinical assessment and decision-making under supervision - Provide patient education and advice throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up - Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to audit and service improvement - Work within Trust policies, cancer standards and governance frameworks Clinical - Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care with guidance and supervision of Lead CNS - Undertake patient assessments and contribute to care planning - Monitor patient progress and escalate concerns appropriately - Support clinics and outpatient services Communication - Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients and families - Support patients through potentially distressing and complex diagnoses - Act as a link between patients, carers and the MDT ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please view the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents for full details regarding this post.
