Pre-dominantly ward based, your role as an Occupational Therapy Assistant will involve working with our Occupational Therapists to support the delivery of assessment and intervention to our patients across our male and female secure services. The work involved includes supporting patients with daily living skills such as cooking and money skills, functional skills such as transfers and mobility and sensory challenges. This post would suit applicants looking to gain experience in Occupational Therapy. ### Main duties of the job - You’ll be working on our inpatient wards, with some opportunities to support patients accessing the community for Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention, as guided by the qualified Occupational Therapist, giving you a varied and interesting role. - Our patients have complex mental health needs as well as additional physical health needs, so your encouragement and understanding will make a real difference by building positive and supportive relationships. - You will have the opportunity to support qualified Occupational Therapists with the completion of assessments, supporting creation of person-centred care plans and goals. - With guidance from a qualified Occupational Therapist, you’ll help plan and deliver creative, practical, and therapeutic activities for individuals and groups based on their assessed needs and identified goals. - You’ll work closely with families, carers, and other professionals, helping everyone stay connected and informed.
