This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing an acute mental health episode. Working as part of the OT service for adults with a mental illness in the acute and inpatient care network, the post holder will support and assist the qualified Occupational Therapists (OT). The post holder will plan and facilitate therapeutic activities on and off the ward according to patients needs, within the framework laid down by the supervising OT. The post holder may also carry out individual interventions in the community and in peoples homes, as directed by qualified staff. The post holder will contribute towards the development of an innovative and needs led OT service. We will support you to learn the skills you need to thrive in the role. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and eager to learn. ### Main duties of the job - The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) is an integral part of the Cedars, supporting individuals with their care and treatment needs. - You will work closely with the Occupational Therapy (OT) team and other multidisciplinary team (MDT) members, including nurses, doctors, and social workers, to ensure a high-quality, holistic service for the individuals accessing the service. - As an OTA, you will be supported to run a therapeutic programme for patients and deliver individualised interventions aimed at improving their mental health and well-being. - Assist the OT team in assessment and goal-setting, tailoring interventions to meet the specific needs of individuals ### About us About Devon Partnership Trust We provide mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services, as well as a range of specialist & secure services for the wider south west region & nationally. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.
