Do you have a strong interest in working with children and young people, their families and schools? Do you want to be part of a new service within Hertfordshire?

Hertfordshire Community Trust has an exciting opportunity for dynamic individuals to support children and young people, their families and schools within the Experts at Hand Model.

We are looking for 4.5 WTE Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapists to bring skills and experience of working within schools.  The successful candidates will also join or large and innovative team of therapists and assistance working within our community service.

*Proposed interview date: 27th July 2026*

### Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the MDT and other agencies deliver universal and targeted advice and support to children, young people and their families in a variety of school settings

The ideal candidate will:

- maintain a high degree of professionalism when working in settings with a highly emotive atmosphere with multi-disciplinary Teams
- be flexible in their approach and have resilience under pressure
- work both in a team environment and autonomously
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of working with children, young people, families and schools.
- have a high level of understanding of English school systems
- demonstrate knowledge of SEND reforms
- demonstrate knowledge and experience of implementing reasonable adjustments and inclusive practices
- demonstrate Neuroaffirmitive practices

We can offer you:

- regular clinical and professional supervision from within the clinical team
- personal development planning and continuing professional development
- involvement in service development including undertaking clinical audits, project work and service forums
- opportunities to provide clinical supervision and line management where appropriate.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- This is a permanent post based across Hertfordshire. The base will be agreed to meet service needs and demand. There might also be an opportunity for a proportion of their time to be home working (to be discussed with your manager).
- In addition to the basic salary, some posts attract a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum and a maximum payment per annum, pro rata where applicable, depending on base.
- For this role you will need to have a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

## Person Specification

### Candidate Requirements

**Essential**

- - Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
- - HCPC registration
- - Experience in delivering occupational therapy intervention using evidence based approaches.
- - Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- - Experience of working with children and young people, families and education settings.
- - The right to live and work in the UK.
- - Understanding and knowledge of English school systems
- - Understanding and knowledge of SEND reform
- - Postholders are required to hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use with business insurance (unless the member of staff has a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
