An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated HCPC-registered Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Sensory Service in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

This service supports children and young people by providing advice, guidance, and practical strategies to meet their sensory needs. The role includes delivering both telephone consultations and face-to-face appointments, working collaboratively with families to develop effective sensory strategies and reasonable adjustments.

The post holder will carry out assessments and provide tailored advice to support participation and engagement in daily activities across home and school environments. You will be based in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, with the flexibility to work across the area in response to service needs.

You will receive structured support, including regular supervision, training, and opportunities to develop competencies in areas such as sensory processing, child development, and sensory-based intervention approaches.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will offer a high standard of evidence based occupational therapy in the service area.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team.

Be a positive role model to all staff.

Ensure patient documentation is accurate, maintaining complete and contemporaneous records in line with HCPC/RCOT and Trust standards.

To be responsible for own autonomous practice and ensure effective patient/client care is maintained.

Attend and engage in Band 5 meetings and engage in CPD opportunities and reflective practice.

Engage in the Trust Preceptorship Academy as required.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Successful completion or willingness to undertake preceptorship
- Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in the relevant service area
- Understanding of caseload management clinical responsibilities

**Desirable**

- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area
- Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
- Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Able to demonstrate effective inter-personal/communication skills
- Evidence of good time management skills
- Work within the culture of improving working lives and working time directive
- Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity
- Ability to commute between the various sites
- Mandatory training to support safe practice and the management of violence and aggression
- Ability to safely manoeuvre patients/service-users and or equipment
- Requirement for frequent concentration e.g., assessments, care plans
- Provide working hours to support the service needs

**Desirable**

- Awareness of leadership/management skills and qualities
- Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage daily operations and maintain a safe working environment

### Qualifications and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice
- Knowledge and understanding of the evidence-based relevant to the clinical area
- Basic IT skills

**Desirable**

- Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning
- Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students.
- Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area
- Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
