An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established but evolving mental health Care Homes Service. The LYPFT citywide Care Homes Team is seeking a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join a small, friendly service that directly supports older people with complex dementia and/or mental health needs residing in a Leeds care home.

It is ideal, but not essential, that you have post registration experience, and be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of the needs of Service Users with dementia and complex mental health needs. We shall provide you with specialist training and development to ensure you are fully supported in this role.

Broadly, the model of service delivery includes: care coordination; timely assessment, role modelling appropriate interventions, behaviours & techniques, education for care staff tailored to the needs of the individual service user, fast access to mental health, psychology and pharmacological advice.

Please note that this is a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave.

The service operates Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, supporting a healthy work-life balance.

Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist who wants to make a meaningful difference to the lives of older adults with complex mental health needs? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic OT to join our multidisciplinary team, supporting care home residents to maximise independence, wellbeing, safety and quality of life through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.

This is a rewarding and varied role where you will use your occupational therapy expertise to provide specialist assessment, intervention and consultation to care home residents and staff. You will support individuals experiencing dementia, depression, anxiety, psychosis, functional decline and other complex mental health presentations, helping them maintain engagement in meaningful occupations and achieve their personal goals.

Your role will involve completing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, sensory, environmental and risk assessments. Using a person-centred approach, you will develop and deliver tailored interventions.
