### Job summary

We are recruiting an Occupational Health Clinic Nurse to join our friendly, highly skilled Occupational Health team. This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity.

Occupational Health is a varied and rewarding specialty, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to staff health, wellbeing and safety. In this role you will deliver a range of clinical activities including fitness for work assessments, vaccinations, venepuncture, contact tracing and support following exposure to blood or bodily fluids. You will also provide timely and compassionate advice to staff and managers, using sound clinical judgement and the ability to prioritise effectively, particularly when supporting the nurse duty line.

You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside Occupational Health Advisors, Physicians, Physiotherapists and administrative colleagues, with close links across the wider Trust.

This role would suit someone who is clinically confident, adaptable and people focused, enjoys problem solving and is motivated by improving staff wellbeing. Whether you are new to Occupational Health or looking to further develop your skills in the specialty, you will be fully supported through induction, mentorship and ongoing supervision.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver a high quality Occupational Health service to Trust staff and external clients, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

Assessing new starters' fitness for work, reviewing health questionnaires and advising on reasonable workplace adjustments

Delivering vaccination programmes and phlebotomy services, including followup where required

Providing assessment, advice and support following contamination and exposure incidents, including sharps and bodily fluid exposures

Managing, ordering and monitoring medications, vaccines and consumables

Providing advice and support during infectious disease incidents and outbreaks, including liaison with IPC

Making onward referrals to specialist services where indicated

Supporting the Nurse Duty line, responding to queries using sound clinical judgement and effective prioritisation

Undertaking risk assessments in line with Health & Safety legislation, the Equality Act and Trust policies

Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and participating in audit and quality activities, including SEQOHS standards

### Experience

**Essential**

- We are looking for someone who is clinically competent, organised and adaptable, with strong communication skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a compassionate, professional approach to supporting staff wellbeing.
- We welcome applications from nurses with experience in clinical practice, vaccination services or advisory roles. Experience in Occupational Health is desirable but not essential, as full training, mentoring and support will be provided.
- Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience of using reflective practice to inform clinical judgement and decision making
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of the health needs of working populations and those in your care
- Awareness of research and evidence based practice relevant to Occupational Health
- Knowledge of clinical governance, confidentiality, data protection and informed consent
- Skills and Abilities
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to apply sound clinical judgement when assessing risk or progress
- Competence in the use of IT systems and electronic health records
- Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands

- Qualifications and Training
- Theoretical knowledge and practical application of nursing skills, assessments and interventions relevant to the role

- Experience in delivering occupational or clinical health assessments and procedures, including:
- Venepuncture
- Immunisations
- New starter / preplacement health questionnaire assessment
- An understanding of Occupational Health and its role in delivering preventative, proactive and responsive services to staff and organisations
- Experience in health promotion and health education, including providing clear, supportive advice to staff
- Experience of working within an advisory or preventative health service would be an advantage

### Qualifications

- BSc Nursing, RN currently registered with NMC
