Previous experience in Occupational Health is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive training and development will be provided to support the successful candidate.   We are keen to hear from nurses and allied health professionals with strong transferable clinical skills who are motivated to develop a career in Occupational Health.

### Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Occupational Health Adviser, you will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, person‑centred Occupational Health service that supports the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce.

With structured support, supervision and development you will:

- Undertake management and self‑referral assessments, providing clear, practical advice
- Assess fitness for work and recommend reasonable adjustments
- Support staff experiencing long‑term and short‑term sickness absence
- Contribute to vaccination, immunisation and health surveillance programmes
- Support the management of work‑related health risks, including body fluid exposures
- Work collaboratively with managers, human resource and staff representatives
- Contribute to service development, audit and clinical governance
- Support and mentor colleagues and learners as your experience develops

This is a varied and largely autonomous role, offering a diverse caseload and the opportunity to further develop confidence and expertise in Occupational Health practice, with no two days being the same.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within a team environment
- Evidence of a range of clinical competencies appropriate to role

**Desirable**

- Management of team/staff members

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC Registered Nurse/Midwife/HCPC Qualification

**Desirable**

- NMC Registered Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (SCHPN) Occupational Health OR Registered AHP with specialist occupational health knowledge and qualifications

### Skills and Knowlewdge

**Essential**

- Ability to use IT as required (Microsoft packages plus electronic record keeping)
- Excellent written skills
- Ability to apply and promote the public health role of the Occupational Health Adviser
- Current knowledge of local and national policies
- Demonstrates leadership in practice, including management of people, resources and caseload
- Ability to apply research to practice
- Competency in a range of clinical skills
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity to differing needs of client groups
- Able to work on own initiative, make decisions and prioritise
- Demonstrate excellence in communication skills with an ability to negotiate and manage conflict

**Desirable**

- Able to assess, develop, implement and develop programmes of care
- Able to demonstrate partnership working with other agencies and service providers
