This exciting Band 6 Nutrition Specialist Nurse role offers the opportunity to develop highly specialised skills in enteral and parenteral nutrition while working alongside expert clinicians across a range of healthcare settings.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients requiring specialist nutritional support, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes and quality of life. You will provide expert clinical care, education and support to patients, families and healthcare professionals, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred nutritional care.

### Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Deliver specialist nursing care for patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition support across inpatient and community settings.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex nutrition support programmes, ensuring safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.
- Provide expert advice, education and support to patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Manage and troubleshoot feeding tubes, central venous access devices and nutrition-related complications.
- Support patients transitioning from hospital to home, coordinating discharge planning and ongoing care arrangements.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including consultants, dietitians, pharmacists, community teams and primary care colleagues.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of nutrition-related education and training programmes across the Trust and externally.
- Participate in service development, quality improvement, audit, research and clinical governance activities to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Develop and maintain clinical guidelines, policies and protocols relating to artificial nutrition support.
- Manage a varied caseload autonomously while ensuring patients are reviewed within agreed standards and timescales.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Equipment used in delivery of artificial nutrition (ie.pumps,tubes,intravenous lines).
- Good understanding of issues surrounding artificial nutrition and parenteral support.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post registration experience, with evidence of continued professional development. To include but not limited to: Dealing with and administering Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Support. Dealing with multidisciplinary staff. Patient/carer management.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered on the appropriate part of NMC register

**Desirable**

- Independent prescriber qualification

### Attitude, aptitude
