The appointee will be an integral member of the team and will have a key role in overseeing the strategy and implementation of best nutritional care for the patients within the Trust. Clinically this post is integrated with the nutrition team consisting of a consultant gastroenterologist, dietician and nutrition clinical nurse specialist. The service aims to identify patients with nutritional problems, in particular those who need enteral or parenteral feeding support. The post holder will provide an important link between other services and departments, including the cancer services, stroke unit, ENT team, community eating disorders unit, general surgery and radiology, this is not an exclusive list. The post holder will be offered training and be required to work independently with the support of the nutritional Lead. This is a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role with us. ### Main duties of the job Be a clinical expert in assessment of nutritional needs and delivery of treatment. Coordinate the Nutrition Support Team (NST) with nursing care in general. Provide advanced technical skills in relation to NG/NJ feeding and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG); liaising with services for radiological inserted gastrostomy (RIG) Provide training for nurses, patient and carers.
