### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Support Worker to join a team of experienced nurses working on our busy gastroenterolgy ward, which also looks after patients who have multiple acute medical problems.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, under the supervision of qualified nurses, caring for patients who are acutely ill with medical conditions. This ward is a busy area that provides an excellent opportunity to deal with patients in a short and medium-term care environment.

Experience within the specialty of Medicine is desirable but not essential. The post is rotational between day and night duty.

### Main duties of the job

Your role will consist of assisting and supporting the Registered Nurses and ward manager and Sisters to deliver excellent patient centred care.

The ward is fast paced and dynamic, you will be expected to work to a Band 3 job description, full training will be given but experience is essential as a Band 2 HealthCare Support Worker.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If you’re comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply. Your Welsh language skills will help us provide person-centred care and enable patients to receive services in their language of choice. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.

### Applicant requirements

- Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge

### Personal qualities

**Essential**

- Displays the ability to work as part of a team.

**Desirable**

- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
