An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Associate to join us in the Children and Young Person's Diabetes Nursing Team, delivering care and education across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire.

You will be joining a supportive Team working as part of a wider Multidisciplinary service including Consults, Psychologist, dietitians and Youth Workers.

If you are interested in making a difference to Children, young people and their families living with Diabetes and possess excellent communication, organisational skills and a flexible approach then we would like to hear from you.

### Main duties of the job

The overriding purpose of the role of the Nursing Associate is to support the provision of the highest quality patient/client care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge and skills, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages in a variety of settings.

As directed by the Children and Young Person's Diabetes Specialist Nurse, within a primary care setting with Children, Young People and families with a diagnosis of Diabetes.

This includes taking a full range of routine care and treatment tasks, as directed by a registered nurse. This will include observations and reporting on patients' conditions.

The Nursing Associate will work under the supervision from a registered nurse or other registered professional to provide high quality care and treatment as a member of the multidisciplinary team informed by excellent communication, analysis of information, planning and organisational skills.

Be accountable for own actions or omissions ensuring mindfulness of the NMC Code of Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates.

Follow all information governance guidance, standards and policies.

Maintain confidentiality as outlined within data protection policies.

Identify the need for policy development and or amendment to existing policies to ensure safe and effective inter-professional clinical care delivery.

Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation.

- Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation Degree specific to Nursing Associate practice.

**Desirable**

- Ability to communicate with Child/Young Person and families
- Ability to deliver age-appropriate education

- Care Certificate
- Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting
- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a Multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
- Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
- Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient and service user contact.

**Desirable**

- Placement experience covering all four fields of nursing
- Experience of working in an in patient setting
- Experience of working in a primary care setting
- Experience of working in a Multidisciplinary team
- knowledge of diabetes technology and it's use in patient care
- Ability to communicate with Child/ Young Person and families using different communication strategies
