An opportunity has arisen for a Perinatal Nursery Nurse based at The Margaret Oates Mother and Baby Unit.  We are looking for somebody who is qualified to NNEB/Diploma in Childcare Level 3 professional qualification standard with effective and positive interpersonal and communication skills.

The role involves supporting mothers who are experiencing a mental health difficulty and their babies, ensuring that bonding and attachment is maintained. The successful applicant will ensure role modelling, care planning and coordination of care of the babies to a high standard.

The Margaret Oates Mother and Baby Unit is accredited by the Perinatal Quality Network within the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and provides high quality assessment, care and treatment of mothers, from 32 weeks gestation to one year post partum, accompanied by their babies who are experiencing a severe mental illness.

### Main duties of the job

As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the NN will provide nurturing and practical assistance to mothers using services in order for them to regain control over their lives nurture their relationship with their new baby.

Duties will include -

Assessment of mothers interactions with their babies

Developing, delivering and evaluating care plans

Support ante and post natal care, and support women with mental health needs during labour and delivery

An effective member of the multi disciplinary team.

Appropriate standards of care are met.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary / skill level is below the minimum required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies

### Knowledge

- Knowledge of Infant development
- NNEB or equivalent qualification
- Understanding of safeguarding

### Experience

- Experience in a nursery/family centre
- Experince of working with babies 0-12 months
