### Job overview

The Royal Marsden Hospital is Europe's largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. Diagnostic Imaging and Radioisotope Therapies provide an essential service to the Trust.  We are looking for a capable and well organised Departmental PA with administrative and clinical duties to join our friendly and dynamic team.

The person will work with a team of Clerical staff, Technologists, PA’s, nurses, physicists and consultants and will report to the Radioisotope Service Manager. They will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive P.A. and secretarial service to the Nuclear Medicine Department as well as supporting the Radioisotope Service.  They should be an enthusiastic and committed individual with a secretarial and administration background and an eye for detail.

They will be able to work independently and accurately under pressure to meet deadlines. The AMSPAR certificate in Medical Terminology and previous experience in a clinical setting would be an advantage. They will be able to interact with staff and patients in a polite and confident manner and you will take an ongoing, proactive role in improving the service of our prestigious department. ### Main duties of the job

- The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive P.A. and secretarial service to the Clinical Lead in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT and the Nuclear Medicine Consultants.
- Ensuring that the Nuclear Medicine service is organised in an efficient and timely manner, this will include administrative duties, as well as clinical duties to guarantee the radioisotope therapy service has the adequate support.
- The post holder will work very close with the existent Departmental clinical PA to cover clinical duties that need continued action.
- The post-holder will liaise with all colleagues and departments within the Trust and external agencies to ensure the continuity of support to all Consultants in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT. Occasional support may be required for Nuclear Medicine Fellows.

- To be responsible for ensuring that patients are given appointment letters and patient information sheets where relevant.
- Action his / her own electronic and paper mail and that of the consultant team (when copied in), at least once a day.
- To arrange internal and external meetings as necessary – booking rooms for meetings and arranging catering if required.
- To act as secretary at meetings if required, ensuring agendas and associated paperwork is distributed in a timely fashion, take minutes of meetings, draft these, type final version and circulate as required.  Follow-up action should be brought to the attention of the appropriate person or carried out as required.
- Prepare, type, and distribute weekly NM Consultants’ clinical rota.
- To undertake general office duties as required, including photocopying, faxing, filing and date stamping of correspondence.
- To ensure that stationery and office equipment is used efficiently and use RMH system to order stationary and follow maintenance protocols.
- The post-holder will regularly be asked to assist with typing and preparation of clinical reports. To act as the first point of contact for users of the service, and to proactively deal with telephone enquiries from patients, their carers, GPs and colleagues in other hospitals in a professional manner.
