### Job overview

The post holder will work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, providing independent prescribing, medication management and ongoing reviews in line with shared care protocols. They will deliver evidence‑based nursing and psychological interventions in accordance with national guidelines and neurodevelopmental pathways. As part of the MDT, they will contribute to assessment, diagnostic formulation and intervention planning, working autonomously with advanced clinical expertise. They will model outcome‑focused practice, support the use of outcome measures and offer supervision and peer support. Key duties include independent assessment and review, safe prescribing, developing and evaluating specialist programmes, and leading audits to inform service development.

The post holder will support safeguarding as a senior clinician and contribute to medication, referral, assessment and intervention pathways. They will provide guidance to colleagues and external professionals on ADHD, chair meetings when required, and deliver training to families and partner services. The role requires high professional standards, autonomous practice and effective multidisciplinary working to ensure safe, holistic care across the neurodevelopmental service.

The post holder will independently prescribe and review medication for children and young people with ADHD, using and recording relevant outcome measures. They will support assessment within the neurodevelopmental service, help develop care pathways, and signpost young people to appropriate mental health and support services. They will design, deliver, and evaluate intervention programmes for children, young people, and families, holding responsibility for a specialised clinical caseload. Duties include expert assessment of psychological, social, and physical needs, creating evidence‑based treatment plans, and ensuring safe prescribing in liaison with GPs and consultants.

The role involves analysing clinical information, monitoring progress, adjusting treatment plans, and maintaining accurate documentation. The post holder will communicate outcomes to families, MDT colleagues, and other agencies, representing the service when required. They will work autonomously, including lone working in community settings, managing clinical risk and providing education and guidance to patients and carers. Additional responsibilities include managing resources, travelling for clinical appointments, supervising students, maintaining CPD, and contributing to audits and service redesign. They will work with managers, MDTs, and partner organisations to deliver the ADHD medication pathway while managing a high caseload and supporting families through challenging diagnoses.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications & Registration

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Child, Mental Health or Learning Disability) with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD in relevant clinical areas.
- Independent & Supplementary Prescribing qualification.

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working in an ADHD medication clinic.
- Training in behavioural or psychological interventions

### Clinical Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working with children and young people in mental health, ADHD or neurodevelopmental services.
- Ability to independently assess, formulate and manage ADHD presentations.
- Competence in baseline physical health monitoring (BP, HR, height/weight, cardiac history).
- Experience in safe prescribing, medication titration, monitoring and review
- Ability to use and record validated outcome measures
- Knowledge of ADHD diagnostic criteria and treatment pathways.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working in an ADHD medication clinic.
- Experience running independent clinics in a community or CAMHS setting.
