### Main duties of the job

We are looking for three enthusiastic Customer Service & Administration Apprentices to join the Outpatient Administration Centre (OAC) at University Hospital Southampton.

The OAC is a busy and supportive team at the heart of outpatient services, providing administrative and reception support to clinical teams across University Hospital Southampton, Princess Anne Hospital and Royal South Hants Hospital.

This apprenticeship offers excellent training and development opportunities, allowing you to gain valuable NHS experience while working towards a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship.

During the programme, you will develop skills in:

Customer service and patient experience Communication and interpersonal skills Personal organisation and self-development Teamworking and collaboration

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Join our busy Outpatient Administration Centre and play an important role in supporting patients across the Trust. As part of your apprenticeship, you will gain valuable administration and customer service experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

In this role, you will:

Help patients by telephone, email and in person. Book, reschedule and cancel outpatient appointments. Support reception services and assist with patient enquiries. Provide administrative support to outpatient clinics. Work closely with colleagues to ensure patients receive an efficient service.

We're looking for someone who:

Has excellent communication. Is organised and able to manage a varied workload. Has good attention to detail and accuracy. Is confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office. Is eager to learn, develop and complete an apprenticeship qualification.

You do not need previous administration experience, although experience in a customer-facing or professional environment would be beneficial.

To be eligible, you must have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent). You will receive paid off-the-job training as part of your apprenticeship programme.

- Good standard of education with literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE pass level 4-9 or equivalent standard
- NVQ 2 diploma or equivalent experience

- Evidence of computer literacy

**Desirable**

- Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
