An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery Service as an Admin Assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised individual to join our busy administrative team. This role provides high-quality administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services across a specialist tertiary department.

As an Admin Assistant, you will act as a first point of contact for patients, relatives, healthcare professionals and colleagues, delivering a professional and responsive service. Responsibilities will include supporting a wide range of general administrative duties.

Working within a fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in supporting outpatient activity, ensuring information is recorded accurately and appointments are managed in a timely manner. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise your workload.

### Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Neurosurgery Department at North Bristol NHS Trust

- ·        Tracking notes and photocopying
- ·        Processing clinic letters
- ·        Contacting patients ensuring they are aware of upcoming appointments
- ·        Contacting patient’s GP for additional information.
- ·        To assist the coordinators with administrative tasks as required.
- ·        Answer general hospital queries and appointment queries as appropriate.
- ·        Respond to and resolve patient queries where appropriate and in line with departmental guidelines.
- ·        Assist in supporting new members of the team
- ·        Handle personal and confidential patient related information in a sensitive manner.
- ·        Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel/teams.
- ·        Maintain and update accurate patient details on hospital computer systems and Microsoft office- Word & Excel.
- ·        Book patient transport in line with the relevant procedure.
- ·        Adhere to appropriate booking rules when rescheduling and cancelling appointments.
- ·        Generate appointment letters as and when required.
- ·        Take part in team meetings and play a role in service redesign.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience of working in an administrative and clerical role
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload

**Desirable**

- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
- Experience of working in a high volume service
