### Job overview

The successful postholder will be working in largest Neurogastroenterology unit in the country alongside a diverse team of specialists, including dietitians, GI surgeons, and mental health professionals, to provide holistic, patient-centred care. We offer an unparalleled environment for professional growth, providing access to cutting-edge physiology diagnostics and the opportunity to contribute to international research and clinical guidelines that shape the future of the specialty

The Neurogastroenterology Fellow serves as a specialised clinician, bridging the gap between general gastroenterology and expert-level motility diagnostics. The primary purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex functional and motility disorders through high-volume outpatient clinics and the expert delivery of advanced physiological testing—including Alimetry, Oesophageal Manometry, Bravo, and Anorectal Physiology.

By maintaining procedural independence in diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy and actively driving clinical governance, research, and service improvement, the Fellow ensures the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centred care while advancing the department’s diagnostic capabilities and academic standing.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to have broad experience of upper and lower GI motility disorders and disorders of gut brain interaction. Subspecialty interest in some aspect of these disease areas would be desirable.

The post holder will deliver specialist GI physiology clinics and procedure clinics, relevant diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and general gastroenterology clinics

The postholder will be expected to attend the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, departmental clinical governance meetings, journal club and weekly seminars. There is some ward work/ward reviews and the junior team is shared with the nutrition team. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the department’s audit and service development programmes.

The main duties of this post include:

- Providing gastroenterological expertise in both Upper and Lower GI motility disorders and disorders of gut brain interaction.
- Participate in audit, clinical governance, service development and annual appraisal.
