Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey within an innovative and supportive environment? We are seeking a Neonatal nurse to take on the role of Band 7 Neonatal Co-ordinator.

Are you someone with extensive neonatal experience, with proven leadership skills and the vision and passion to help develop the Neonatal Unit? You will need to be pro-active in decision making, with a forward-focused approach and good collaborative skills to deliver high-quality care to our Neonatal patients and their families. We are seeking Applications from nurses who are innovative.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the safe and effective co-ordination of the Neonatal Unit on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring optimal patient flow, staffing oversight, and delivery of high-quality care in-line with national standards and local frameworks.

### Main duties of the job

We are a compassionate team, who are committed to ensuring babies have the best outcomes and quality care. Family Integrated Care (FiCare) is at the heart of everything we do, working in partnership with families to ensure they are fully involved at every stage of their babys journey.

Youll be fully-supported by our Neonatal Ward Manager and Neonatal Matron, to give you the structure and mentorship to flourish in this exciting leadership position.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive post-Registration experience, some of which will be at a senior level within the required specialist area of practice.
- Thorough understanding of contemporary neonatal nursing issues.
- Substantial experience of use of IT systems in clinical practice.
- Evidence of in-depth knowledge of hospital information systems and IT packages.
- Experience of facilitating change.
- Evidence of innovation in practice.
- Experience of leading a team.
- Experience of shift co-ordinating.
- Familiar with inter-hospital transfer.
- Experience with complex discharge planning including safeguarding.
- Experience of auditing.
- Participation in recruitment and selection process.

**Desirable**

- Experience of line management of staff.
- Experience of working at Band 6 and / or Band 7.
- Experience of service redesign.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level NMC Registered Nurse (Adult or Child).
- Degree in Nursing studies or relevant clinical Degree.
- Recognised management or leadership qualification or relevant experience.
- Post-Qualifying Specialist Neonatal Course (QIS).
- Recognised Neonatal Resuscitation and / or stabilization Course / Neonatal Life Support (NLS).
- Mentorship Certificate / Practice Assessor training.
- Management and leadership training / ILM qualification (or equivalent) or evidence of currently working towards this.

**Desirable**

- Appraisal training.

### Physical Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to walk / stand for long periods.
- Ability to sit at workstation as necessary, with substantial use of VDU. Requirement for keyboard skills.
- Highly-developed physical skills and dexterity.
- Ability to move patients and equipment as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy.

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Evidence of leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of best practice in area of specialism.
- Thorough understanding of expanded roles / professional practice issues.
- Evidence of competency in relation to nursing practices appropriate to Post.
