### Job overview

You will be working in a multi disciplinary team based in central London supporting the clinical triaging and assessment of referrals of children and young people for autism and ADHD.  You will be well supported with the role offering significant  opportunities to develop your career further in a large mental health and community Trust.  Key aims are:

- To provide a high quality service to young people and their families/carers referred to CNWL ND SPA.
- To contribute to referral and triage pathways and processes within the SHINE service
- To promote the reputation of assessment services and provide triage and referrals management  within professional guidelines and exercise systematic governance of practice within the CNWL ND  SPA.

### Main duties of the job

- Answer any calls to the SPA in a patient and courteous manner, and to screen and prioritise these appropriately.
- Undertake clinical triaging of  referrals to the SPA, deciding on the correct care pathway.
- Refer on for  assesssments  where appropriate, arranging appointments and liaising with teams.
- Signpost referrals on as necessary into non-statutory, third sector services.
- Respond to calls and referrals within time limits set out in the SPA Operational Protocols, ensuring they are managed  in a timely manner.
- Be fully conversant with statutory and non-statutory services across the boroughs in which CNWL operates  and the provision of CNWL services in each borough.
- Ensure safe and effective delivery of care / advice to referrers, utilising own knowledge and skills.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, such as GPs, schools, social services, , taking and triaging referrals as appropriate.
- Ensure that there is effective liaison / communication pathways with other services.
- Participate in both clinical and managerial supervision in relation to role.
- Monitor standards of clinical practice of the SHINE ND SPA, recommending changes where necessary.
- Be responsible for the maintenance of accurate patient records on relevant patient information system (ie. System One).

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Relevant professional qualification in a psychological or therapeutic field, Mental Health Nursing, Mental Health Social Worker
- Additional qualifications or training in child and adolescent mental health.
- Educated to degree level

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience working in child and adolescent mental health
- Significant experience of assessing complex mental health presentations.
- Experience either working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team or multi-agency working.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in mental health guidelines/ best practice and the range of mental health disorders/ illnesses
- Experience of the Children Act and Safeguarding
- Children legislation and protocols.
- Experience and/or knowledge of transition work and clinical care of young adults
- Excellent communication, assessment, planning and recording skills

### Personal Job / Related Skills

- Ability to relate to young people and families.
- Broad understanding of equal opportunities and an ability to work in an anti-discriminating way
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to cope with the demands of what can be a stressful job.
