We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead and further develop its national Weight Management Service for people living with lymphoedema . This is a unique opportunity to influence policy, shape clinical practice and improve outcomes for patients. You will provide strategic, professional and clinical leadership for dietetics and nutrition within Lymphoedema Wales, leading the continued development of an innovative All-Wales service. Working closely with Health Boards, you will drive service improvement, promote multidisciplinary working and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. You will also maintain a specialist clinical caseload, supporting patients with complex lymphoedema needs. The successful candidate will champion research and education. We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Dietitian with substantial experience in weight management, service development and clinical leadership. You will be passionate about influencing change and building effective partnerships to deliver excellent patient outcomes. This is a rare opportunity to lead a pioneering national service, influence healthcare policy and make a lasting difference for people living with lymphoedema in Wales. ### Main duties of the job Lead the strategic development, delivery and evaluation of the Lymphoedema Wales Weight Management Service. Provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership for dietetics, nutrition and weight management across Wales. Assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex lymphoedema and weight-related conditions, developing evidence-based treatment plans and personalised goals. Lead and support a multidisciplinary team through supervision, education, professional advice and service development. Utilise behaviour change techniques, motivational interviewing and counselling skills to support sustainable lifestyle change. Develop and implement All-Wales policies, clinical guidelines and service improvement initiatives. Contribute as a member of the Lymphoedema Wales Senior Leadership Team, supporting quality improvement, performance management and service sustainability. Deliver education and training programmes for patients, healthcare professionals and stakeholders. Lead audit, data collection, outcome monitoring and service evaluation to demonstrate impact and value. Promote research, innovation and evidence-based practice, working collaboratively to strengthen the evidence base for lymphoedema and weight management services. Welsh language skills are desirable ## Person Specification ### experience **Essential** - Working as a specialist Dietitian working in the NHS with experience of service delivery in a variety of different clinical settings including acute and community. - Working in team leadership role and developing Clinical Governance Strategy/ strategies for specialist service - Human resource management, supervision and mentoring also supervising and developing less experienced / more junior staff. - Facilitating Group Education. Experience in quality & performance management at service level. - Policy, planning and interpreting & implementing National/HB/Local Service Policies. - Leading change management in operational practice, with proven record of service modernization. - Understanding and application of financial procedures and budgetary management. ### Aptitude and abilities **Essential** - Advanced interpersonal skills including highly developed oral and written skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds with the ability to lead, empower and develop staff. - Developed behaviour change/motivational interviewing skills. - Accurate anthropometric measurement skills relevant to caseload/using skinfold calipers and hand dynamometry. - Presentation skills & ability to work effectively single handed with individuals and groups. - Advanced clinical reasoning skills - Analyse, synthesize & present complex information at team, service/ directorate and organisational level. - Good organisational skills & the ability to facilitate these skills in others. - Able to reflect and appraise own performance and that of others. Able to identify areas for own & others personal development. - Clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring skills. Reliable, conscientious & hard working. - Able to deal with work pressures & light to moderate physical activity over long periods. - Is able to deal regularly with distressed clients and staff. ### qualifications and knowledge **Essential** - BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent. - MSc or equivalent level of advanced post registration training. - Management qualification or evidence of management development. - Communication skills training/ counselling skills training Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - Specialist knowledge in specialist clinical area leading to the ability to critically appraise evidence and offer originality in tackling and solving problems. - Demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge across a wide range of clinical areas. Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance & audit. - Evidence of clinical audit and research experience - Health and Safety Risk Awareness.
