This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with significant safeguarding experience related to children and young adults to be part of the integrated safeguarding team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is to include providing safeguarding leadership to the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative  (WMCPC) as part the integrated  safeguarding team based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, the post holder will be responsible for providing visible leadership, knowledge, expertise and supervision in relation to safeguarding children and young adults. The post holder will provide core specialist child and young adult safeguarding advice to staff and will lead on areas of expertise and development across Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the  WMCPC.

The successful candidate will be required to work with multi-professional colleagues from across the Trust and external partner organisations, including primary care, the Local Authority and other partner agencies.

Experience of leading change utilising continuous improvement methodologies and influencing practice, as well as working in multi-professional teams and across organisational boundaries is essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake the statutory role as Named Nurse for Safeguarding leading on the CAMHS Services based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital site with an expectation to travel to Community and  Inpatient CAMHS Units across the WMCPC  in accordance with the role and competencies outlined within 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' (2018) and RCPCH Intercollegiate (2019) guidance. The post holder will provide expert advice, support, training, and safeguarding supervision to health care staff across the organisation.

The post holder will ensure the key functions of the Named Nurse for Safeguarding are undertaken for the Trust through:

- Effective leadership
- The setting, monitoring and maintenance of robust safeguarding arrangements and training programmes
- Collaborative multi-agency working
- Contributing to safeguarding governance

The post holder will be supported by the Head of Safeguarding and work alongside the Named Midwife for Safeguarding as part of our integrated safeguarding team, in ensuring the organisation meets its statutory safeguarding responsibilities.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Knowledge of Safeguarding/Child Protection legislation including: Children Act (1989 & 2004) Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018)
- Experience of lead role in managing cases with partner agencies in relation to Safeguarding/ Child Protection and Child In need cases including experience of attendance at Case Conference / Core Groups
- Experience of Multi-Agency working and development work in relation to children and young people.
- Evidence of complex case load management or management within complex, challenging health/social care settings
- Experience of Teaching and facilitating Individuals and Groups.
- Experience of providing supervision to individuals and groups.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse/Registered Sick Children’s Nurse / Specialist Community Public Health Nurse BSc (Hons)  Educated to degree level in relevant subject .

**Desirable**

- Masters Degree  Recognised teaching qualification Safeguarding Children Supervision Course
