Job Title: Named Midwife Safeguarding

Contract Type: Permanent

### Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join out team as we progress through a period of transformation and embedding a whole of life approach to safeguarding.

This is a key operational leadership role with strong input and engagement with the strategic leadership of the UHS safeguarding team, providing direction and support to midwifery services in managing safeguarding concerns and supporting outcomes for families.

Working with the head of safeguarding, named nurses and wider leadership teams you will support the development and embedding of best practice throughout maternity, and wider; design and deliver training to empower the workforce to deliver the best possible care, and undertake all areas of service assurance and improvement where necessary.

Managing a small team, you will have the opportunity to develop the service and team, embedding a sustainable career pathway for those who wish to make safeguarding their specialism.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Providing clinical, professional, and managerial leadership for all staff groups un all areas of safeguarding, with a strong focus on maternity.

Taking a professional lead on all aspects of the Maternity Service contribution to safeguarding.

Assessing the fulfilment of statutory responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and taking action where those responsibilities are not met.

Contributing to the PREVENT agenda.

Leading on the design and delivery of training in relation to safeguarding within maternity.

Leading on the design and delivery of supervision models within maternity.

Supporting the divisional team to deliver its commitments to safeguarding within maternity.

Ensuring effective and collaborative working with our multi-agency partners.

Role modelling best practice in relation to safeguarding and challenging professionally where required to ensure that outcomes are the best that can be achieved.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Qualifications / training required

- - Registered midwife on NMC/HCPC register
- - Degree or equivalent level of experience
- - Working towards a master’s degree, or equivalent level of experience
- - Leadership I Management training
- - Specialist experience/training relating to safeguarding

### Previous or relevant experience necessary

- - Extensive experience working in the maternity healthcare setting in clinical
- - Extensive experience in a safeguarding role
- - Evidence of delivering formal and informal safeguarding training
- - Experience of change management within healthcare settings
- - Experience of dealing with emergency situations related to safeguarding to ensure patients are protected
- - Demonstrable knowledge, expertise, and experience in safeguarding, including national legislative frameworks and regulations
- - Evidence of continuing professional development
