### Job overview

The post holder will undertake the Healthcare Engineering Specialist Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard. You will be released for study to attend college, train and learn on site, and also complete specialist training courses to then be fully qualified at the end of the 4 year apprenticeship.

To follow instructions, training, guidance to achieve applicants’ Apprenticeship Standard with the timeframe agreed and work with the Employers statutory requirements.

### Main duties of the job

Most apprenticeship programmes in the UK are government-funded. To qualify for this funding, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years before starting the apprenticeship. This means living in the UK for most of the past three years without significant absences. Please note this post will close at sufficient applicants.

- Carry out, under supervision, the following aspects, in order to meet training requirements for the HEST Apprenticeship Standard:
- Diagnose, fault find, and repair faults on a wide range of plant, equipment and services
- Manufacture, assemble, erect, install and test new work including minor improvements ensuring compliance with Trust and Apprentice safety standards and procedures
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to statutory requirements
- Carry out statutory inspections and testing of plant, equipment and services to ensure their safe operation and meet current standards
- Use all relevant tools and equipment as necessary and correctly
- Plan and evaluate and order materials for the necessary job requisitions
- Communicate with others on aspects of their work, including any problems encountered
- Make arrangements to attend wards / departments for access or availability of room / area / equipment to carry out work as requested
- Participate in systems of work and complete all necessary paperwork to Statutory and Trust requirements

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
