The Imaging Department at Whipps Cross Hospital, Barts Health have an exciting career development opportunity to become a Band 7 Radiographer in our team. The Imaging Department supports one of the busiest A&Es in the country as well as a broad range of specialties with a CT Colon service, walk-in GP services, dedicated MRI pacemaker imaging service, Dental services and MDT-led Fluoroscopy services. The new hospital planned for Whipps Cross will feature imaging as an essential provider for same day assessment and treatment of patients. Imaging services across Barts Health are transitioning to a new model of work, recruiting more staff, including Imaging Assistants, to drive the quality of care delivered by Radiography across all sites. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is excited about providing high quality patient care within a close-knit and supportive team environment. ### Main duties of the job Working within a multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will contribute to the safe and effective running of the imaging department. They will be an expert in their field of clinical practice and will be able to perform a wide range of examinations to a high standard. The post holder will be required to rotate through CT and MRI and they will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service and the extended hours 7-day service in MRI. This is a leadership role and the post holder will offer supervision to band 5 and 6 radiographers, assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students/apprentices and visitors to the imaging department, they will be required to deputise for the modality lead and role model professional behaviours. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day imaging. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience. The post holder at all times will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act in accordance with the HCPC standards of proficiency. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. ## Person Specification ### Experience **Essential** - Extensive experience as a radiographer performing a wide range of CT and MRI - Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques - Able to work unsupervised - Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care. - Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality - Completion of preceptorship Experience of on-call and out of hours roster - Leadership and mentoring experience **Desirable** - Previous experience as Band 7 radiographer. - Experience of training staff and students. - Demonstrates ongoing CPD. ### Communication **Essential** - Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills - Effective communication in a wide range of situations in writing, person or by telephone - Computer and keyboard skills.
