### Job overview

We are seeking an exceptional, dynamic, and compassionate Modern Matron to provide visible, values-led leadership across our inpatient services. This role will be providing support for the Older Adult inpatient wards. This is a pivotal role focused on driving high standards of patient care, strengthening clinical governance, and supporting our teams to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred services.

As Modern Matron, you will act as a key professional leader, championing quality improvement, fostering positive cultures, and ensuring operational excellence within a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment.

### Main duties of the job

The inpatient units are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder supports the delivery of the inpatient hospital model providing leadership to professional and direct care staff, ensuring the availability of appropriate administrative support services in their wards to release clinical time to care. The post holder will be expected to cover a shift pattern 7/7 throughout 24hours with their colleagues providing leadership and clinical expertise to the capacity and flow, inpatient wards and advice to external agencies as required.

Matrons will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence on wards, to whom patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support

Matrons must be clinically up to date and creditable/have clinical skills expecting others to perform and passionate about driving up clinical and professional standards   Lead on quality agenda within clinical environment

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Sound understanding of contemporary Mental Health agenda and clinical skills
- Understanding of local and national policies that influence and support mental health inpatient services.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Management role within a multi-disciplinary service at a senior level
- Ability to analyse and resolve management problems
- Inpatient experience and / or significant leadership experience at Band 7

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RMN or other professional qualification
- Evidence of CPD and study at higher level
- Degree or demonstrable evidence of study at higher level
