Matrons are vital to delivering high quality care to patients and their relatives across the NHS and the wider health and care sector. They are instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, reducing health inequalities and promoting equality for all, workforce retention and recruitment, staff education and development, compassionate, inclusive leadership and patient safety.

The matron’s role is the cornerstone of improving the quality of patient care. They do this through visible inclusive leadership and engagement with patients and families, frontline staff and senior management teams. Matrons provide key assurance to the board, providing evidence that the organisation is delivering safe care and supporting and developing staff to fulfil their roles.

### Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking a dedicated Modern Quality Matron for Our Children’s Nursing Services across Pennine, you would be responsible for the Professional, Clinical and Quality leadership for Children’s Complex Care Team, Children’s Complex Packages of Care and Special Needs School Nursing Services across Pennine ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, caring, responsive and high-quality clinical services for children and young people with complex care needs.

This pivotal role focuses on enhancing the quality of care for our service users, improving the effectiveness of care pathways, and strengthening governance across the care group.

We are looking for a dynamic leader to ensure rigorous oversight and assurance, with a keen focus on improving patient experience. This role demands a strong influencer capable of implementing quality improvements to boost patient safety, embedding the governance structure, and supporting the team in delivering and maintaining these enhancements.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Matron will be responsible for enhancing patient experience by increasing responsiveness to patient needs, providing evidence that care is delivered at the highest quality, and fostering a culture of continuous learning across the Three Children’s Nursing Teams.

The ideal candidate will promote effectiveness by embodying Trust values and nurturing a positive, inclusive working environment that supports staff well-being. Demonstrating 'professional curiosity' through positive leadership, the Matron will support clinical decision-making and enhance patient safety across Children’s Nursing Services working closely with The Clinical Nurse Business Manager

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

## Person Specification

### Education

**Essential**

- Educated to Masters level or equivalent experiential learning
- RN child qualification and active NMC registration

### Knowledge/Experience

**Essential**

- Sound understanding of contemporary Children’s Nursing agenda and clinical skills.
- Current experience of Children’s Nursing practice in a community setting.
- Management role within a multi-disciplinary service at a senior level
- Substantial clinical experience with progressive career/management development
- Community experience or significant leadership experience (if NHS, at Band 7)
