The Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for you, a motivated and inspirational midwife, to join our Antenatal and Postnatal Ward Team as a ward manager.

This post will be the a named lead for Turpin ward, the antenatal ward. The post holder will work alongside the named lead for Templar ward, the postnatal ward, supporting both areas in their absence and sharing a team of midwives and MCA’s working across both wards. The appointed candidate will ensure the following:

Main duties of the job

  • To provide effective, dynamic and cohesive midwifery leadership and management to a team of midwives, student midwives and junior doctors working in The Antenatal and Postnatal ward environment on a rotational basis.
  • To provide visible clinical leadership to the Templar and Turpin teams alongside the already in post ward sister.
  • To provide cover for the Templar ward sister where required and to share in the staff management duties required of the team working between the two wards.
  • Be the named ward sister leading Turpin ward, supporting the implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the area and promoting positive patient experience.
  • To deliver robust evidence-based midwifery care and promote individualised women centred midwifery care in partnership with women and other stakeholders.
  • To act as an exemplary role model and effective and pivotal resource to midwifery and other staff.
  • To have competent and proficient IT knowledge and skills to aid effective communication throughout and management of the maternity unit.
  • Provide support to aid patient flow through the wider maternity unit.
