Would you like to work in a highly motivated and friendly Maternity team covering Bath, North East Somerset and West Wiltshire? At the RUH we are committed to providing high quality, woman-centred care.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC review, our service consists of an Acute and 2 standalone birth centres. We also have 2 community midwifery led units. This is your chance to be part of a transforming organisation where we aim to ensure all women have access to the optimal birth environment in accordance with their choice.  We are increasing the number of Band 6 Midwifery posts within our service. As a result of this we are seeking self-motivated, innovative and flexible Band 6 Midwives to work within our Midwifery services providing care to families.

### Main duties of the job

Fulfil the role of midwife as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council adhering to the Midwives Rules and Code of Practice thereby ensuring relevant registration is maintained.

Take personal responsibility for own professional development and up dating in accordance with PREP requirements.

Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to meet the needs of birthing people and their babies.

Commitment to providing non-discriminating and non-judgemental care.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care throughout pregnancy, labour  and the postnatal period. Also facilitate others in their practice.

Promote a birthing person and baby friendly environment adapting to the needs of the individual.

Effectively prioritise clinical caseload and organise own workload to meet client need.

## Person Specification

### specific skills

**Essential**

- Knowledge of current evidence based midwifery practice.
- Ability to demonstrate competence in fetal monitoring.
- Ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of medicines management.
- UK driving licence and access to a car.

**Desirable**

- Extended skills ( Newborn and infant physical examination

### Knowledge and skills

**Essential**

- Recent experience in all aspects of midwifery practice
- Experience of managing own work load and working under own initiative to prioritise tasks.
- Experience of the audit process

**Desirable**

- Experience of mentoring student Midwives

### qualification and training

**Essential**

- Registered Midwife with NMC PIN
- Training in management of obstetric emergencies
- Evidence of currant practice as a Midwife

**Desirable**

- To have obtained or be studying to degree level
- Teaching/Mentoring qualification
