Camden was a national trailblazer site for the mental health support team (MHST) in school initiative. We are a well-established multi-disciplinary team that provides high quality support to children, young people, and families, presenting with mild to moderate concerns. Support to schools includes advice and sign posting, consultation, delivering brief evidence-based interventions through universal (e.g. whole school approach), targeted (e.g. class or small group intervention) and individual one to one therapeutic support. ### Main duties of the job The role of Specialist Clinician and Supervisor includes consultation, assessment, therapy/intervention, supervision as well as service development, evaluation and training. This will be a community-based post, with most of the work taking place in school settings or other community settings. The post holder must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the team, staff from other teams as well as with our allied partners across education, health, social care and the charity sector. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please see the attached Job Description and Person specification for more information on the role requirements and duties. ### Applicant requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. ## Person Specification ### Other **Essential** - Ability to travel ### Skills **Essential** - High level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management - Skills in the assessment of mental health for children young people and their parents - Competent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and clinical record-keeping systems. - Ability to manage own clinical case load - Ability to form excellent working relationships with colleagues and work flexibly with others in multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings. **Desirable** - Personal duty of care in relation to equipment or resources ### Knowledge **Essential** - Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent mental health difficulties, their assessment, and current evidence based intervention strategies. - Skills for assessing and communicating complex client conditions and applying appropriate clinical treatments - A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face **Desirable** - Willingness to contribute to strategic and business planning ### Experience **Essential** - A clear track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery - Experience of working with evidence based approaches to low mood, anxiety and behavior problems. - Formulation and treatment of children and young people with mental health difficulties. - Some experience of providing supervision - Experience of working with and within schools (primary and secondary). **Desirable** - Some experience of undertaking delegated leadership tasks Some experience of clinical management of staff - Some experience of involvement in project work e.g. quality improvement - Some experience of working at all levels of the system with internal and external stakeholders ### Qualifications **Essential** - Appropriate qualification as either a Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist (Doctoral level training and relevant UK Professional Registration (HCPC/BPS). - Or as a Systemic Family Psychotherapist (MA/MSc qualification with full registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP) - Or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with relevant UK Professional registration (e.g. BABCP) - Or Appropriate qualification to be an existing CAMHS clinician at band 7 for example, clinical nurse specialist or mental health social worker.
