Salford Home Based Treatment Team is a 24/7 service that supports individuals in crisis at home, as an alternative to psychiatric inpatient admission. The Listening Lounge in Salford is a 24-hour friendly and supportive community space open to anyone in Salford who has been referred by a health care professional and requires an urgent assessment of their mental health needs without the need for medical treatment. Our aim is to offer a 1:1 holistic assessment of an individual’s mental health needs from qualified mental health practitioners and support staff in a relaxed and comfortable environment, avoiding long waits in emergency departments. The service provides brief psychosocial interventions in a calm environment to help identify and promote positive coping strategies, and complete referrals to identified and appropriate services, and signposts to other local support services.
