These are new roles designated under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme for Primary Care (ARRS). The roles will provide an opportunity for better joint working across primary care and adult secondary care mental health systems and will make it easier for patients to obtain the help they need.

In the North East many of our APP practitioners are undertaking their training to transition from an APP to an MHWP and we would welcome applications from MHWPs in training as well as qualified practitioners.

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- Able to plan and deliver interventions with a variety of service users presenting with mental health difficulties, their families and carers and the clinical team, on a daily basis
- Able to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in significant distress or who are cognitively impaired, their families and carers
- Able to receive, understand and communicate confidential client information of a sensitive and often complex nature, including discussing care with family members within boundaries of confidentiality

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with people with mental health needs gained through a graduate certificate or postgraduate certificate training with significant supervised practice
- Experience running groups/activities
- Experience working as part of a team

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner on a professional register recognised for this role by NHS England
- A graduate certificate (Level 6) or postgraduate certificate (Level 7) delivering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners (Adult Specialist Mental Health)
