A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust based in  Inner London Services. We are looking for somebody with a friendly demeanour and excellent interpersonal skills.

We provide high quality support to our patients and are looking for a motivated, flexible and forward-thinking Pharmacy technician. This post offers you the opportunity to progress your career in an innovative and supportive environment. The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical and professional knowledge and skills in both physical and mental health.  You will be involved in providing medicines optimisation service to in-patient eating disorder, children’s and adolescents mental health service and rehabilitation units. You will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician and practicing as a pharmacy technician in your current role.

If you have not completed a GPhC approved combined pharmacy technician qualification, you will need to hold a nationally recognised ‘Medicines Optimisation skills’ certificate and a ‘Final Accuracy Checking’ qualification. Willingness to work towards these qualifications is essential if you are yet to complete them.

Interviews will be taken place in a face to face format only.

## Person Specification

### PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Portfolio demonstrating competency of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge, and CPD.
- Significant hospital pharmacy experience (inclusive of base PTPT training duration)
- Education and training of pharmacy staff
- Participation in clinical and medicines management audits

**Desirable**

- Experience in a supervisory capacity
- Liaison within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of psychotropic drug therapy
- Experience of working within mental health services
- Providing health care to children and adolescents.

### PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

**Essential**

- Ability to understand and empathise with people suffering mental illness
- Ability to motivate self and others

### EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

**Essential**

- Completion of a GPhC approved combined Pharmacy Technician qualification (NVQ L3 or equivalent)
- Current registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician (Those in the process of registering with the GPhC can apply. However, registration with the GPhC must be complete for employment to commence)
- Completion of a recognised ‘Medicines Optimisation training course’ (If qualified prior to 2020)
- Accredited with an Accuracy Checking qualification (If qualified prior to 2020)

**Desirable**

- Practice supervisor qualification (or willing to work towards)
- Completion of entry-level managerial and leadership training courses (e.g. Edward Jenner)

### SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES

**Essential**

- Good communication skills (written and oral)
- Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills
