### Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our Medicines Management team at Frimley Health.

This is a Band 4/5 progression post, designed for both experienced hospital pharmacy technicians and those looking to transition from community or other pharmacy sectors. Previous hospital experience is not essential.

You will be supported through a comprehensive in‑house training programme, including medicines management competencies, digital skills development and leadership training. Progression to Band 5 includes Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) development, if not already achieved, and opportunities to specialise in clinical areas of interest.

### Main duties of the job

Dispensary & Technical Services:

- Safe and accurate dispensing and labelling of a wide range of prescriptions.
- Rotational experience across, Inpatient and outpatient dispensing (including clinical trials).
- Chemotherapy and specialist medicines.
- Controlled Drugs.
- Automated Drug Cabinets (ADCs).
- Robotic dispensing systems.
- Satellite services such as emergency supply pathways or hospice/mental health partners.
- Ward‑based Medicines Management:
- Completing accurate medication histories and medicines reconciliation.
- Supporting safe and appropriate use of medicines on the wards.Counselling patients on new and existing treatments.
- Communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care.
- Weekly clinical governance checks under guidance from senior Medicines Management Technicians.
- Training and Development:
- Full competency‑based training programme across all rotations.Opportunity to develop specialist skills in areas such as Acute Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Respiratory, Oncology/Haematology, Maternity, Paediatrics or Frailty services (subject to service needs).
- Support to complete ACT accreditation (if applicable).Leadership and supervisory development as you progress toward Band 5.

- To be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council or a Pre-Registration Student eligible for registration this year.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Hospital pharmacy experience.

**Desirable**

- Experience in supervising people.
- Experience of using the EPIC EPR system.
- Experience of recruitment and selection

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered as a Pharmacy technician with GPHC
- Recognised Accredited. Checking qualification.
- Management/Optimisatio Accreditation.

**Desirable**

- NVQ A1 Assessor
- Practice/Education Supervisor
- Leadership/management Qualification

### Skills & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of CPDs.
- Knowledge of common medications to be able to accurately counsel patients and carers.
- Clear communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload
- Able to work on several issues simultaneously; able to reprioritise work in a rapidly changing environment.

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of EPIC.
- Knowledge of common computers systems and Microsoft apps including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

### Special Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability to be work flexible hours including late evenings, bank holidays and weekends on a rotational Basis.
- This post may require you to work cross site therefore must have a willingness to travel between sites.
